Finding resilience in times of change and uncertainty

In this session, a Positive psychologist will explore key strategies to regulate stress and promote resilience, which can help individuals and teams to rest and re-energise.

Outline

As humans we perceive uncertainty to be overwhelming and threatening. The recent years have been marked by prolonged periods of change, disruption and lingering uncertainty.

Such times of change and transition can drive increased stress and anxiety, which in turn can mean we get locked into negative patterns of thinking about ourselves, the world and the future. Ultimately, this also makes performing at our optimum more challenging.

In this talk, we will delve into the psychological and physiological aspects of stress and anxiety, sharing strategies designed to enhance our tolerance of uncertainty. We will also share practical ways to reset, re-energise, and bolster resilience.

Outcomes

  • Understand how our brains respond to perceived threat and why change can trigger anxiety
  • Learn how stress works at a psychological level and how we can better regulate our stress response
  • Understand the link between self-awareness and tolerance of uncertainty, to optimise our resilience
  • Practical tips and techniques to regulate adverse emotions and re-energise
